About the Band

Savor was formed to honor the 30-year career of latin-rock legend Carlos Santana — from the raw power of the self-titled album issued in 1969 to the recent spate of hits with current stars.

The diverse background of Savor's rhythm section meshes perfectly when they play as a unit, which is why the complex interweaving of classic latin rhythms are so adroitly handled by this trio. Drummer Rob Canny's solid-as-a-rock groove meshes perfectly with the percussion team of Eddie Rouse (Congas, Bongos) and Mikey Manglicmot (Congas, Timbales).

Complementing the rhythm section is bassist Michael Sunday, whose soulful flavor rounds out the famous Santana groove, while vocalist Misk DiMarco's impressive range and power add fuel to the fire. Keyboardist David Jefferson captures the sound of each of the decades, from the bluesy organ style of Gregg Rolie to the later, jazzier flavor of Tom Coster and Chester Thompson.

Guitarist Michael Caroff delivers every trademark Santana lick, as well as the gritty tone and singing sustain that make the songs so memorable.

Together, Savor pays fitting tribute to the popular, timeless sound that makes Santana's music so well-loved.

Members

Guitarist Michael Caroff grew up in the bay area, attended the music program at UC Santa Barbara, and worked afterwords in several touring bands. He also taught guitar for years. His dedication to the craft is evident in the careful attention to every detail of Santana's fretwork. Michael also sings lead and harmony.

Percussion wizard Mikey Manglicmot plays Congas, Timbales, and other assorted instruments. Mikey's experience as a latin-rock musician is invaluable. His passion -- combined with amazingly skillful stick and hand technique -- provide a major portion of the band's drive and excitement.

Bassist Michael Sunday picked up the instrument late in life, but made up for lost time by, among other things, spending 10 years on the road with ex-Monkee Peter Tork's band "Shoe Suede Blues." Michael is the consummate bassist, and seems to have a feeling for the groove that cannot be taught -- it must come from within.

Vocalist extraordinaire Misk DiMarco attended Boston's Berklee College of Music, and spent years touring the east coast in several R&B and heavy metal bands. Misk also plays guiro, shakers, and other Latin hand percussion instruments.

Conga player Eddie Rouse grew up in the streets of Philadelphia before moving to Miami, where he immersed himself in Latin music. His passionate playing is as fun to watch as it is to hear.

Drummer Rob Canny lays down the beat with a vengeance. His powerful stickwork forms the basis of the band's rhyhthm — a critical element in any Latin music band.

Keyboardist David Jefferson is an accomplished R&B piano player in addition to being well-versed in many other musical genres. He deftly covers a wide range of styles, from bluesy organ riffs to wailing synth lines and funky piano comping. David also sings harmony.
